Executive Vice President and
Chief Administrative Officer

Andrea Onorato1)     How did you get involved in your current career?  Who/ What inspired you in your career?
While a sophomore in college, I wanted to find employment flexible enough to fit my school schedule.  I was fortunate enough to find Valley was offering a part-time teller position in Little Falls.  When I graduated, I remained at Valley for several reasons.  First, the bank was growing rapidly. And second, there were several opportunities for me to advance within the organization while providing strong mentorship and career development. How can you beat that?

2)     How do you remain productive while managing your professional responsibilities?
Building a strong, energetic, forward-thinking, collaborative and capable team allows for true successes! Prioritizing my responsibilities certainly helps with my productivity.

3)     What is the most critical issue facing our community?
People from all walks of life may have challenging periods in their lives that may lead to under employment and financial difficulties.  This may disrupt their lifestyles, not to mention difficulties in meeting their basic needs from shelter to a hot meal.  Valley recognizes, promotes and assists in many community projects to improve these situations, which is important to me.

4)     What is your favorite place to visit in the community?
I grew up in Wayne and appreciate its rich history and culture, boasting six historical houses and twenty historically significant sites. However, you will most likely find me at the Short Hills Mall, my second (actually, my first) favorite place!!!

6)    Can you tell us something that may surprise us?
Although my professional career is in banking, you would probably be surprised to know that I started college as an art major with aspirations of going into advertising.  My part-time teller job really showed me that I have other interests and I changed my major to Business Administration.

7)     Why Valley?
Valley offered me so many opportunities to grow in my profession.  My mentors were knowledgeable and supportive of all my efforts, which gave me a great kick-start to a long career here at Valley.  Presently, it’s a very exciting and invigorating time to be a part of this organization with many positive changes, improvements and technological advances!  I’m grateful and excited to be a part of its evolution.
